What's in the Box?
A description of the uses of the boxes shown on the left and right hand sides of the page.
Along the left and right sides of the page are boxes to help you find your way around the site.
- On the right side, the log in form appears if and only if you have not logged in. (It includes a link to join the site labelled, "new user?") Once you've logged in, this box disappears.
- Favorites are links to pages on this site.
- To add a favorite:
- Navigate to the page you want to add.
- Find the tiny button below the
welcometab on the upper left, to the left of the site breadcrumbs where it says, "you are here." It looks like this:
- Click on it: this is the "add favorite" button.
- The page will reload and the page name, linking to the page, should now appear in the box.
- At the bottom of this is a link labelled, "Organize Favorites." Click on it to bring up your favorites folder. It will open in Folder Contents View , which allows you to delete or rename the links.
- The favorites box will not appear until you have clicked the "add favorite" button at least once and added a favorite to your folder!
other navigational devices
Along the top of every page are several navigational devices, which adjust to where you are on the site and reflect who you are:
- Use the tabs along the top to access the top page in any of the main sections of the site.
- Highlighting on tabs indicates which section of the site you're in.
- The "members" tab only appears for members. Clicking on it brings up a page from which to search for site members.
- Below that on the right is a personalized navigation bar, for direct access to your workspace and preferences.
- Below that on the left is a linked trail of breadcrumbs: this shows exactly where you are within the folder and page tree or hierarchy.
Use the breadcrumbs to move quickly up the tree.
- On the far left of the breadcrumbs is a tiny icon:
which is used to add favorites to your my favorites box. See above for more information!
