The Folder Contents View
How to view the contents of a folder and edit the items and documents contained in that folder. This includes your personal folder "MyFolder".
What it is and how to reach it
When you select your personal folder: MyFolder as well as from inside any folder on the site, a tab at the top of the folder box (upper left) allows you select a view of the Contents.
The Contents view brings up the contents of the current folder and lists the various items. This view allows you to add, access, rename, and perform other functions on the contents of a folder.
Items in the current folder appear in a table, listed alphabetically. The icons identify the item type (document, image, files, etc.). Additional information is provided on each item:
Title | Type | Size | Modified | Status
Most are obvious. "Status" refers to an items' publishing status — whether it's published, "visible," or private (see below).
what to do there
Above the contents table, on the left, is a drop down menu that says "Show all Items" and allows you to filter the visible contents by type. Try it out to see the effects. To the right, the "Select" drop down menu is for adding new items to the folder. See How to add content for more information.
Below the contents table in the folder contents view are buttons indicating the various actions that can be performed on items in the folder. Use the checkboxes to the left of items in the folder contents window to select them, then choose from the following options:
- Rename: Use this option to change an item's ID or it's title. See Titles, Names, and default folder views for more information.
- Cut, copy, paste, or delete: You can copy items between folders. You also have access to an undo function via the personalized options on the upper right. NOTE that the "undo" option isn't always available, depending on what other actions have been performed in the meantime.
- Change status: Use this to change an item's status — to publish or retract items, or to make items "private".
The View tab brings up the ordinary (front) view of an item. You can also access the edit tab for an item from this view, if you have permission to edit that item. See How to Add and Edit Content .
See Publishing Options for more information.
