How to Add and Edit Content
how to add content
Site members can add content in their workspace in the Member's area and in the EmergenceWiki. You must be logged in to add content.
There are several kinds of content you can add:
- Document: Create & edit pages through the browser. You may use structured text, a simple but powerful method for formatting text, HTML, or plain text.
- Event: Events are items that, when published, are linked to from the calendar and rotate through the "event" box. Please use sparingly: events are site-wide.
- File: Upload files in a variety of formats, which can then be downloaded from the site. Files appear as attachments to pages; they are not rendered in the browser.
- Folder: Use folders to organize content. The folder hierarchy appears in the navigation box (upper left).
- Image: Upload images that will be rendered in the browser. An image item appears on its own page but, once added to a folder, can be inserted into documents using structured text.
- Links: A link added this way can be annotated and is stored and rendered as a separate page.
- News Items: A news item is a special kind of document that is stored in the folder where it was created but rotates through the "news" box (lower left).
- Topics: Never mind topics. =}
- Wiki Page: A wiki page is different from a document. Like documents, wiki pages use structured text, but with minor differences. See Wikis for more information.

- Select the formatting preference at the bottom of the page.
- Documents and wiki pages both use structured text, but with minor differences. A document is not a wiki page!
- Text fields in items other than documents and wiki pages generally use plain text and ignore structured text and HTML tags.
